Plans for new hotel & residential development overlooking Canary Wharf

Exciting plans for a 400-bedroom hotel and 279 serviced apartments in E14

Plans for 40-storey mixed-use development have been submitted by developer Rockwell in partnership with Firethorn Trust. The exciting plans reveal a 400-bedroom hotel and 279 serviced new apartments in E14. Alongside these will be some superb dockside leisure amenities such as a gym, restaurant and cafe.

The Quay House development will overlook Canary Wharf. The area under the DLR is also set to be expertly transformed into usable public space. Along with Canary Wharf’s spurt of new high-rise developments and new developments in the Isle of Dogs, much needed amenities are being provided to this ever expanding area.

Benefits for the local community and new residents in E14

Rockwell engaged in a very thorough consultation project within the local community. The plans submitted are in line with this process. The build will be in perfect proportion with other buildings being developed in the area. The development will be a lesson in how to make the most of an unused space in Isle of Dogs.

The architects on the project are Simpson Haugh & Partners. They are masters in their field and collaborate well with communities, design teams and developers to bring out the best in every project.

Jonathan Manns, head of planning and development with Rockwell has had a few words to say on the matter.  ”Rockwell is committed to the redevelopment of Quay House and we are excited to transform the currently vacant building into a landmark development,” he said.

Opportunities in Isle of Dogs

In conclusion, the project will bring many opportunities to the Isle of Dogs and surrounding areas. It will employ up to 300 jobs while construction is underway. Furthermore it will bring employment upon completion, with an estimated 230 jobs being created when the development is done. We are excited to see what happens next with this planning application and hope to have more news on it soon.
