  • Virtual reality allows buyers and tenants to view London properties from anywhere in the world
  • Wise buyers add to the information gained from a virtual tour by asking questions and double-checking locations

Virtual reality is a great asset to people looking to buy, sell and rent property in London. It’s become particularly popular among people buying flats and apartments in Royal Docks, with many people moving from the provinces and abroad in order to take up new jobs in the UK capital.

Virtual reality allows potential buyers and tenants to tour a property with an experienced estate agent without leaving their desks. This is a huge advantage if work or travel costs prevent you from coming to London before your moving day, and you need to find somewhere to live before your new contract starts.

Don’t worry about how many questions you ask – your estate agent will be happy to find answers to all your queries.

Henry Wiltshire also uses the latest virtual reality technology to enable potential buyers to tour a property. Our Royal Docks estate agents explain: “The properties are filmed in advance, with our camera team visiting every room and recording every angle. Then, at a pre-arranged time, I do an online tour for potential buyers, showing them the virtual reality film. They can see me on their screens, and ask me questions as we go. It’s also possible for me to guide more than one buyer round the property at a time, but with each buyer only connecting to me so that everyone’s privacy is respected.

Of course, the Henry Wiltshire estate agents who use virtual reality are very supportive of buyers and tenants and try to offer as much guidance as possible. But if you buy a home you haven’t set foot in, you may find yourself facing issues that would never have arisen if you’d been able to visit in person. Maybe your new flat is on the sixteenth floor and you suffer from vertigo; maybe you’re hoping to cycle to work but there’s nowhere to put your bike. Questions that arise naturally when you’re walking around a property (“are the kitchen appliances included?” and that sort of thing) don’t always trip off the tongue when you’re chatting online. Think carefully about what matters to you in where you live, and write down a list of questions to ask the estate agent. Don’t worry about how many you ask – they want you to make the right decision and will be happy to find answers to all your queries.

It’s also important to check the location, because only you know whether the commute from your new flat is manageable or not. It’s lovely living away from the office – you can really get away from it all once the working day is done. Equally, it’s great living close to work – you might get an extra half hour in bed, and you can pop home during the day if you’ve forgotten something.  If you’re using virtual reality to buy London property, remember to use Google maps to simulate your commute before you close the deal.

Virtual reality is changing the London property market for the better, making home viewing more accessible than ever before. To book your virtual tour with Henry Wiltshire, simply call 020 3696 9616.
